Chinese Actor Wang Xing Rescued After Human Trafficking

At 00:55 Beijing time on January 11, Chinese actor Wang Xing safely arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, following a harrowing ordeal involving human trafficking.

Previously, Wang Xing had been reported missing near the Thailand-Myanmar border, triggering widespread concern.

Sohu Entertainment has detailed the timeline of the actor's disappearance and subsequent rescue.

On January 3, Wang Xing entered Thailand through Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport after receiving a job offer via WeChat for an actor audition.

He travelled to the Tak Province near the border with Myanmar, but around 11:00 local time, he lost contact.

On January 5, his family reported him missing to the Chinese Consulate in Chiang Mai, prompting an immediate response from authorities.

The consulate worked closely with Wang Xing's family and Thai authorities to trace his whereabouts.

The situation caught public attention on January 6 when a Chinese netizen shared news of Wang Xing's disappearance online.

Chinese Consulate issued an official statement confirming their efforts to locate the actor.

By January 7, Thai police, in coordination with Myanmar's Border Guard Force (BGF), announced that Wang Xing had been found and safely evacuated back to Thailand.

Initial investigations revealed that Wang Xing had fallen victim to a human trafficking ring.

Lured with promises of work as an actor, he was transported across the border to Myanmar.

However, authorities dismissed reports of physical injury, including injuries to his legs.

On January 10, after completing their investigation, Thai authorities safely repatriated Wang Xing to China.

The National Police of Thailand confirmed that he had been deceived by an organised job scam, with the purported acting audition turning out to be a trap.

Despite the traumatic experience, Wang Xing emerged physically unharmed from the ordeal.
