KAT-TUN Breaks Up After 25 Years, Kamenashi Exits Agency"
It’s the end of an era for J-pop fans as legendary idol group KAT-TUN is officially calling it quits on 31 March 2025.
After 25 years of highs, lows, and more than a fair share of drama, the group’s three remaining members—Kazuya Kamenashi, Tatsuya Ueda, and Yuichi Nakamaru—announced the decision after a year of intense discussions.
Kamenashi will also leave their agency, STARTO ENTERTAINMENT, to start his own journey.
"To all the fans who supported us for so long, thank you from the bottom of our hearts," they shared in a heartfelt statement. But they didn’t sugarcoat it—this news is bound to sting for their loyal followers.
The trio plans to go out with a bang, promising one last chance for fans to see them live before officially parting ways.
Their management, STARTO ENTERTAINMENT, gave the scoop:
"After a thorough review, it became clear that it’s best for the members to go their separate ways as they move forward in their careers."
KAT-TUN has always had an edge that set them apart—breaking the typical idol mould with their rebellious image.
Since their debut in 2006 with the million-seller Real Face, they’ve climbed to the top of the J-pop world.
However, their journey hasn’t been without hiccups, from multiple member exits to temporary hiatuses.
Fans are understandably emotional, especially as Kamenashi moves on to build his own brand while Ueda and Nakamaru stick with the agency.
