A Moment But Forever Ending Explained, Painfully Poetic

A Moment But Forever Finale Was Painfully Poetic

Spoiler Alert! Right, brace yourselves. A Moment But Forever just dropped its finale, and let’s just say—if you thought you'd leave with a warm fuzzy heart, think again.

In true tragic drama fashion, nobody really got what they wanted.

Not Ji Tanyin. Not Yuan Zhong.

Not even the cheeky side characters who deserved a breather after all the emotional marathons they ran.

So what happened?

Ji Tanyin, literal goddess, gave up her life to save Yuan Zhong.

She even broke the three promises she made—big deal stuff in their world.

She dies in his arms, quietly, under the blooming pear tree. Beautiful? Yes. Gut-wrenching? Absolutely.

Yuan Zhong, poor guy, is left behind, once again.

He knows it’s a forever sort of goodbye… or is it?

There’s a glimmer of hope as the story hints she could be reborn and return to him someday.

Until then, she’s just… around—literally. Butterflies, breezes, petals.

And if you think that’s already rough, wait till you hear what happened to the rest.

Zhi Dai, who spent most of her life trying to find Tang Hua, finally gets her wish.

She's young again. He falls for her.

No Happy Endings in 'A Moment But Forever' Finale

But irony does its thing—she grows old again and refuses to see him, knowing her days are numbered.

Then there's Meishan Jun, the mischief-maker turned immortal.

He died.

On his first day as a celestial being.

Honestly, if there’s ever a record for “shortest immortal career,” he’s top of the list.

But he died for his mates, sword in hand, no regrets.

Now, if you’re wondering about the five weapon spirits who gave their lives for Yuan Zhong, there’s a slight win—A Xiu is seen alive at the end, suggesting the lot of them might’ve pulled through somehow.

Not exactly a party, but we’ll take it.

And here’s a fun twist for fans of Love of Thousand Years—Zheng Yecheng popped back in as Fu Jiuyun in a neat little crossover moment, meeting Ji Tanyin, his creator. Proper goosebumps stuff.

All of this bittersweet madness comes from the mind of Shi Xi Lang, who clearly isn’t afraid to hurt her readers.

You can’t help but feel like the writer sharpened her pen with tears.

Viewers are calling the finale “a knife sharper than the god’s left hand”—which sounds dramatic, but honestly, fair.

In the end, A Moment But Forever lives up to its name. A moment of love. A forever of waiting.
