You won’t believe the drama that’s been kicking off in the K-pop world right now! Kwon Bo-ah aka BoA, the absolute legend dubbed the "Queen of K-pop," has landed herself in a right mess after a boozy livestream went pear-shaped.
And now, a fan who’s been with her for a whopping 25 years has chucked in the towel and left the fandom. Blimey, talk about a fallout!
Here’s the tea: on April 5, 2025, BoA was having a laugh with telly host Jun Hyun Moo at his gaff, knocking back a few drinks during a surprise livestream.
Things got a bit messy when a fan asked Jun Hyun Moo if he was dating comedian Park Na Rae.
Before he could even answer, BoA jumped in, slurring, “Nah, you’re way too good for her!”
Oof, that didn’t sit well with the viewers. Fans were fuming, calling her out for being rude and out of line.
The backlash was proper swift.
Netizens were all over X (formerly Twitter), saying BoA’s comments were bang out of order, and some even reckoned her “flirty” vibe with Jun Hyun Moo was a bit cringe for a 38-year-old K-pop icon.
To make matters worse, a diehard fan account called “THE BETTER,” which had been supporting BoA since her debut in 2000, decided they’d had enough.

On April 8, they posted a heartbreaking message: “Thank you for the past 25 years,” and shut down their account for good.
The fan, who had 1,667 followers and was well-known for their BoA fancams and pics, said her behaviour just didn’t match the image they’d loved for decades.
BoA tried to smooth things over with an apology on Weverse on April 7, saying she was sorry for her remarks and didn’t mean to cause offence.
But for some, the damage was done. Netizens were split—some were like, “Was it really that bad to ditch her after 25 years?” while others were proper gutted, saying, “She’s not the BoA I thought I knew.”
One commenter even quipped, “I get why someone could go from fan to hater now!”
BoA’s been a trailblazer in K-pop, breaking barriers in Japan and paving the way for the global Hallyu wave.
But this scandal’s got people wondering if her tipsy tirade might’ve tarnished her legacy a bit.
