Family Business Wraps Filming: Yang Zi Dives Into Ming Dynasty Power Plays (Weibo) |
Yang Zi and Han Dongjun are diving deep into the ink—and maybe each other’s hearts—in their freshly wrapped costume drama, Family Business (家业).
Set during the Ming Dynasty, this historical series promises rivalry, legacy, and a good dose of slow-burn romance.
The drama follows Li Zhen (played by Yang Zi), the youngest daughter of a prestigious Huizhou ink-making family.
She’s sharp, driven, and determined not to let her talents go to waste in a world dominated by men.
Remind you of anyone?
Fans are already drawing parallels to her performance as Hu Weifang in Flourished Peony—a woman equally headstrong and strategic.
Opposite her is Han Dongjun, or Elvis Han to some.
He’s no stranger to historical fantasy, having made waves in The Monster Killer.
Here, he steps into the role of a rival ink maker, also born into a proud family tradition.

Sparks fly as the two compete to dominate the ink market, each refusing to back down.
But naturally, as is often the way with these stories, rivalry might just give way to something softer. Think pride and prejudice—but make it ink-drenched and dynasty-styled.
Family Business isn’t just a pretty period piece, though.
It promises a layered story built around commerce, legacy, gender roles, and yes, romance.
And if Yang Zi’s resume is anything to go by—from Ashes of Love to Lost You Forever—this could very well be her next major hit.
The scripts she picks tend to hit the sweet spot between emotion and intrigue, and this looks like no exception.
The supporting cast is solid too: Wu Mian, Tian Xiaojie, Wang Zihao, Xie Xin, Li Hongliang, Yang Si, Xu Baihui, Fu Jia, Wang Wenqi, Zhou Zhi, Wang Xuedong, and Nafesa round out the ensemble, bringing more colour and conflict to the already richly textured tale.
Production has officially wrapped, so now we wait for promo stills, teaser trailers, and (hopefully) a release date.
Will Family Business live up to the hype?
Will Ming dynasty ink-making turn out to be the new hot genre?
We’re not ruling anything out.
For now, keep your eyes on Yang Zi’s socials—if she starts dropping behind-the-scenes pics, it’s game on.
