Silence Gets Louder: Joyce Cheng Clears Instagram Amid Ongoing Health Concerns (Pics: Sohu/Instagram) |
Something’s clearly shifting in Joyce Cheng’s world – and fans are paying attention.
The 37-year-old Hong Kong singer and actress, who’s been largely absent from the public eye for the past two years, has suddenly scrubbed her social media clean.
As of April 24, every post on her Instagram has been deleted.
Her YouTube channel is nearly empty too – all the vlogs are gone, though a handful of songs still remain.
Interestingly, her Facebook page hasn’t been touched… yet.
This surprise move has sparked a wave of speculation online.
Some fans are hoping it’s the start of a rebranding or even a quiet comeback.
Others are more cautious, pointing to her long-running health concerns and wondering if this signals a deeper retreat.
Joyce Cheng, the only daughter of TV legend Adam Cheng and beloved entertainer Lydia Shum, hasn’t performed publicly since her March 2023 concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
That same April, she announced a complete work pause due to health reasons – and she’s kept a very low profile ever since.
Her manager, Sandy Lamb, confirmed in mid-2023 that Joyce was unwell and “healing,” but declined to give specifics.
Since then, her activity’s been sparse.
In November, she appeared in the music video for Alfred Hui’s “De-Union,” and in December, she lent her voice to Asha in the Cantonese dub of Disney’s animated film Wish – also singing the film’s theme song.
But these were more like brief flickers than a full return.
She did pop up socially during Chinese New Year earlier this year, seen in a video posted by veteran music producer Florence Chan.
But again, no official news followed.
And now, with her contract with her previous agency quietly ending and her socials wiped clean, the big question is: what’s next?
Is Joyce preparing for a new chapter – maybe even outside of the spotlight – or will she step back onto the stage once she’s fully ready?
At the moment, her profile still appears on the Media Asia website, suggesting she hasn’t completely severed ties with the entertainment world. But fans are bracing for either outcome, with a mix of hope and quiet worry.
Whatever path she takes, the support for Joyce remains steady – she’s a rare voice in Cantopop, not just for her music, but for the realness she brings to it.
