As we reached the grand finale of The Glory, Zhuang Hanyan’s (Chen Duling) long-anticipated revenge against her villainous father, Zhuang Shiyang, came to a bittersweet conclusion.

Just when we thought things couldn’t get more intense, our male lead Fu Yunxi (Xin Yunlai) was poisoned, and in a shocking twist, the heroine had to make an agonising decision: save her love or sacrifice her revenge.

Choosing the former, Zhuang Hanyan reluctantly lets her cruel father go free to save Fu Yunxi’s life.

Fans of the main couple might see this as a tender act of love, but others weren’t pleased, claiming she abandoned her carefully laid plans in favour of love.

Either way, Zhuang Shiyang was eventually released—only for his final meal with his daughter to be, ironically, his last. Talk about poetic justice!

So, did Zhuang Hanyan get her revenge in the end?

Yes, but in a manner that no one expected.

The true villain of the story—her father—meets his demise at the hands of his concubine, Zhou Ruyin (Wang Yan).

After all the pain he caused to his family, it’s only fitting that he’s taken down by the very woman he wronged the most.

Despite the repulsive actions of his character, Yu Entai did an outstanding job of making the audience loathe him.

And how could we not appreciate Zhuang Hanyan’s chilling expression when she closed the door on her father for the last time?

Revenge, after all, is best served cold.

The final scenes wrap up the story with a surprising twist.

While Zhuang Hanyan’s grandmother is still offered her usual meds, this time she refuses, realising that what she needed wasn’t a physical cure but emotional healing, thanks to her granddaughter’s words.

We also get a brief shot of Chai Jing (Jinna Fu) on a boat, leaving fans of the Zhuang Hanyan and Chai Jing ship disappointed with such a fleeting moment.

Meanwhile, Fu Yunxi’s survival remains uncertain as the poison takes its toll on him, but it’s clear that the couple is determined to cherish every moment they have left together.

But it’s in the very last scene where the show truly plays with our emotions.

Zhuang Hanyan admits to Fu Yunxi that there’s one more thing she lied about, but he dismisses it, insisting it doesn’t matter because they’re together now.

As the fireworks light up the night sky, we witness a grand reunion, with Zhuang Hanyan’s late mother (Wen Zhengrong) finally at peace.

The symbolism is powerful—those who have passed stand on one side, and the living on the other.

And there, in a haunting final image, we see Fu Yunxi standing with the dead.

It’s a heart-wrenching moment that transforms what seemed like a happy ending into one full of sorrow.

Did Fu Yunxi survive the poison?

Or has he finally succumbed?

The Glory left us with one final question—one we might never get an answer to.
